Capital Markets Specialist, Asset Management and Regulation

The Capital Markets Specialist, Asset Management and Regulation will report to the Director Capital Markets and will be housed in the Capital Markets Pillar. She/he will lead the implementation of pillar strategies and interventions in asset management and regulation. In delivering her/his role, the specialist will participate in the development of the pillars’ strategic and programme work plans, play a critical role in project management and implementation, and position FSD Africa’s contribution to market transformation.

The Capital Markets Specialist, Asset Management and Regulation will contribute to the management of the finances associated with the Capital Markets Pillar while ensuring compliance with FSD Africa and Donor polices. This role requires the individual to drive the transformation of capital markets through effective technical assistance, influencing, advocacy and communication strategies. In delivering her/his role, the specialist will support the Director of Capital Markets in identifying, engaging and empowering key partners needed to operate effectively and contribute to the development of their respective Capital Markets.

This role requires an individual with a Master’s degree or equivalent senior professional experience with a successful track record of delivery of results in the area of technical specialism and the provision of technical assistance. The individual will need to demonstrate at least 8-12 years of experience in the areas of technical specialism, at middle management in a financial markets environment.

Assistant Director Credit Policy, Regulation and Infrastructure

The Assistant Director will assume responsibility for an existing portfolio of impactful intervention projects. These include: working with central banks on credit market data gathering and analysis; conceptualising and implementing evidence-based advocacy campaigns that highlight the importance of credit; supporting the emergence of sandboxes or other RegTech approaches; conducting research into the big issues affecting credit markets in Africa e.g. cost of credit & interest rate regulation). Assistant Director, Risk Regulation

The Assistant Director will contribute to the implementation of the overall Risk pillar strategy by leading the development and implementation of programmes that work to improve the enabling environment for risk markets in Africa. This involves leading research, analysis and thinking around ecosystem development. Building on a strong foundation of understanding, the Assistant Director will conceptualise and lead a portfolio of impactful intervention projects – e.g. working with insurance sector regulators to develop new policy and regulatory frameworks. The role also includes conceptualising and implementing evidence-based advocacy campaigns, combining data gathering and analysis with sophisticated communication techniques to address the big issues affecting risk management and transfer in African markets.

This role requires an individual with a profound and systemic understanding of the SSA risk management and transfer sector and a track record of managing relationships and influencing key stakeholders at a regional level especially in the public sector. S/he will hold a good quality Master’s degree or relevant post graduate qualification, and will have at least at least eight years of professional experience, progressing to a senior level, working in a field relevant to financial risk market development across multiple countries and institutions, including in Africa.

Manager, New FSD Strategies

The Manager, New FSD Strategies will be responsible for driving the establishment of five new FSD offices in Ethiopia, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Zimbabwe and in the West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU). This work is highly strategic, expanding the FSD Network footprint into new and important markets. The role will support and lead the development of strategic frameworks and the population of these frameworks with a portfolio of impactful programmes and projects. To enable this effort, the role will also support and lead aspects of delivery platform development – the establishment of the FSD entities themselves.

This role requires an individual with significant knowledge and experience in inclusive finance and economic development, and a willingness to play a leading role in realising these objectives for FSD Africa. The successful candidate will be a multi-functional high performer, with the ability to manage processes, determine strategic frameworks and build an effective delivery approach. S/he will hold a good quality bachelor’s degree from a recognised university in a relevant field (relevant post graduate qualifications are an advantage) and will have at least five years of experience, some at a senior level, working in a relevant environment across multiple countries and institutions, including in Africa.
