Senior Industry Program Manager: Textiles and Apparel – Uganda
The ideal candidate will bring a set of senior level networks within the policy, development or wider commercial sector within Uganda or in an East African context. They will have excellent strategic and critical thinking skills, with the ability to quickly identify opportunities and risks from different courses of action.
This role is on a permanent basis employment role. The incumbent may be initially based in Nairobi with significant travel to Uganda and regionally.
This role will be part of a team aiming to catalyze sustainable growth within the Livestock sector in Kenya. She/he will lead and manage the design, strategy, planning, budgeting communicating, monitoring, and reporting on all assigned interventions. S/he will develop and maintain close relationships with public and private sector stakeholders while overseeing and coordinating the implementation of programme interventions.

This role will be part of a small team aiming to unlock lasting change in the Agricultural Inputs sector, helping to catalyze sustainable growth of agriculture in Kenya.
She/he will play a key role in designing and delivering interventions that look to unlock opportunities in the sector. It will involve developing a robust evidence base of what works and what doesn’t to drive agricultural productivity improvements, developing mechanisms to foster innovation, and building relationships and brokering deals with key stakeholders in the sector, from leading input companies to public sector decision makers. Gatsby works adaptively, so interventions regularly change, however examples may include driving investment and farmer uptake of agricultural lime to address soil acidity, facilitating sustainable farmer extension models and working with associations to balance and nurture the public and private sectors' complementary roles to implement the access to quality inputs / establishment of inputs traceability system.

The purpose of this role is to strengthen the organisation’s capacity to develop and manage contracts for services and Gatsby Africa’s relationships with third parties, as well as ensure operational and partnership compliance.
In addition, the role will oversee Gatsby Africa’s procurement strategy in ensuring that it is effectively implemented and support the development of procurement systems. This role leads the contracting and procurement teams in business partnering ensuring high-quality delivery to the program teams.
Senior Manager – Research, Evidence and Engagement
The Senior Manager Research, Evidence and Engagement role will be responsible for managing a programme of research to ensure that Gatsby’s approach is well-evidenced and grounded in economic practice, as well as drawing out strong examples of this work in practice from their programmes.
It will be responsible for leading the development of strategic research partnerships with local and international institutions and coordinating their external engagements across the region to place sector transformation at the heart of their current policy debates. This role will help to build Gatsby’s reputation, positioning and broader relationships across policy circles in East Africa, working closely with senior country-based staff.
